Huanyi Yang

Huanyi Yang, trumpet

Huanyi Yang is a 17-year-old Chinese trumpet player who has studied music for eight years. As a student at Walnut Hill School for the Arts, he currently studies with the principal trumpet player of the Rhode Island Philharmonic, Joseph Foley. Mr. Yang is a member of New England Conservatory's (NEC) Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and NEC's Honor Brass Quintet.

He also participates in Walnut Hill School's brass quintet and as well as the annual January Project. Mr. Yang was selected to be a member of the National Youth Orchestra of China (NYO-China) (2017) culminating in a U.S. and China tour and performance in Carnegie Hall. Previously, he joined the Curtis Summerfest and the Rafael Méndez Brass Institute.

Huanyi's other hobbies include playing basketball and soccer with friends and listening to a lot of symphonies by Mahler, Tchaikovsky, and others.
