Welcome to the Brockton Symphony’s 74th season! I am thrilled to join you on this year’s journey, where we will explore the personalities of dynamic chamber music-making, celebrate youth musicianship, and cherish the return to full symphonic programming. I am particularly passionate about the Symphony’s emphasis on accessibility and educational engagement; we are excited to introduce free concerts, virtual viewing options, and educational programming as new aspects of the upcoming season.
The Symphony is returning to in-person offerings with a sensational season of intimate chamber and dazzling orchestra concerts. Witness the strength of the greater Brockton Community by joining us - in-person or online- for unifying programming celebrating musical collaboration and the artistic forces that unite us. Season highlights include works by Gershwin Hailstork, and Bernstein, as well as free fall concerts offered to the public for the first time! (Online options will be offered through cable screenings and our social media pages as well). BrSO educational initiatives include the continuation of the Youth Vasconcellos Concerto Competition, the feature of 2019 winner Meihui An on our April concert, and a new video project to share virtual musical programming with local elementary schools.
I am deeply grateful to be a part of the Brockton Symphony Orchestra's return to live concerts - after the isolation and distress of the previous years, our community is in great need of the affection and inspiration that music-making brings into our every-day lives. The Symphony is able to return to the Brockton Community in this way due to the gracious support of its individual and corporate sponsors. I personally thank you for your continued giving, and if you are a new patron, please consider helping our organization continue to collaborate with the greater South Shore community.
