Join the Brockton Symphony Chamber Players, Erik Lindgren, and Neal Itzer's Contemporary Jazz Trio at the Fuller Craft Museum for a special concert featuring three unique trios playing different genres of music.

Classical: As the classical third of the Trilogy of Trios, you will be transported back in history to Beethoven's time in 1786. To a time when the piano, as we know it today with the capability of loud and soft sounds, was brand new. Up until then, keyboards only one level of volume. You will hear 15-year-old Beethoven's experimentation with exaggerated contrasts of dynamics throughout his Trio for Piano, Flute and Bassoon, his charming showpiece originally composed for the Von Westerholt family, with the Count on bassoon, his son on flute, and his daughter on piano, who was taking lessons from the 15-year-old Beethoven.

Mark Finklestein, bassoon

Contemporary: Greetings from Elizabeth Tower was composed by local composer Erik Lindgren at the Banff Centre during a week-long residency in January of 2016 for flute, piano, and a third guest performer. This theme with twelve variations (all in different keys) is based on the familiar Westminster Quarters, the 16-note carillon sequence that ends with the Great Bell "Big Ben" clanging out the hour. Big Ben and the other bells are housed in the Palace in Westminster's Elizabeth Tower in London; thus, the title of the work.

Their sound is uniquely modern, yet steeped in the classic jazz tradition, and is sure to intrigue and please every listener.
