Dane Jacobson

Dane Jacobson, violin

Seventeen-year-old Dane Mathias Jacobson has played violin for 12 years. He currently studies with Mark Lakirovich in his hometown of Newton, Massachusetts and prior to that with Meg Dole Abramowitz. He has been a member of NEC's Youth Philharmonic Orchestra for the past 3 years, and is a current member of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra. In addition to placing first at the Feinberg-Kelley Youth Competition, last year Dane received first prize and scholarships at the Jeanne Selander Memorial and the Seven Hills Symphony Concerto Competitions. He was also awarded second place at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School Category C and the Quincy Symphony Orchestra competitions. Previously, he was the second-place prize winner at the International Music Academy competition in Cremona, Italy.

Dane also enjoys mentoring younger players. Last year, he joined the From the Top Center for the Development of Arts Leaders, and was a member of the Chamber Music Residency. As part of the program, he also played in communities throughout the Greater Boston area.

Dane's other hobbies include playing for the Noble and Greenough School soccer and squash teams, singing for Noblelonians (Noble and Greenough's all men's a cappella group) and playing for the Nobles chess team.
