French mezzo-soprano Sophie Michaux's voice has been characterized by the Boston Musical Intelligencer as "luscious," "velvety," and "ever so slightly smoky." A graduate of the Haute École de Musique in Geneva, Switzerland (BM, Early Music Vocal Performance), Ms. Michaux served as a soloist in Italy at the Egida Sartori and Laura Alvini Early Music Seminar, directed by René Jacobs. She has performed throughout Europe and the United States under directors Gabriel Garrido, Jean-Marie Curti, and Leonardo Garcia Alarcon, among others. In addition to being a sought-after soloist in opera and in classical music, she is also well respected for her work in jazz and cabaret.
Ms. Michaux is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Vocal Performance from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, where she will be singing the title role of Orontea in Antonio Cesti's opera this December. For more information about her upcoming events, please visit www.sophiemichaux.com
