Brockton Symphony Orchestra
Noah Lewis, violin
Noah Lewis

Noah Lewis is 14 years old and a native of Newton, Massachusetts.

Noah begged his mother for violin lessons for over a year before he got to hold his first violin. Just before his 7th birthday, his wish was finally granted with one condition – he should not give up. Since then he has been very fortunate to have great teachers and wonderful friends in his music world. Now he enjoys studying music more than ever as he continues to discover creativity and expression in his instrument.

Noah experienced success early in his studies. He is a prizewinner of the Metrowest Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition, the 2006 Longy School of Music Prep Concerto Competition, and The Philharmonic Society of Arlington Young Artist Competition. In 2007, he was invited by DZ Bank and the Lower Saxony Music Foundation to perform in recitals in Hanover, Germany. That summer, he performed the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E minor with the Ukrainian Philharmonic Orchestra in Kiev and Chernigov in the Vladimir Horowitz Charitable Foundation Festival. He also won 1st Prize at the 2007 Longy School of Music Prep Concerto Competition. Noah was a laureate of the 2007 International Competition of the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation. The Foundation invited him to play at the Kremlin in Moscow, in Washington, D.C. and in New York City. At those venues he performed in recitals with top young musicians from the Moscow Central Music School of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. In the fall of 2008 Noah appeared as a guest soloist for the Four Season’s Orchestra in Ukraine. He performed the Mendelssohn Violin concerto in D minor and Vivaldi’s Summer from The Four Seasons. In 2009, he appeared as a soloist with The Ukrainian National Orchestra performing Saint Saëns Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, and Wieniawski’s Polonaise in D major.

Noah also plays chamber music and has performed in Dusseldorf and Regensburg, Germany; Melkin Hall, NY; and at Colima University, Mexico. He has taken master classes with Simon Fischer, Pamela Franck, Brandon Vamos, Masumi Per Rostad, and a private lesson with Robert McDuffie.

He owes his advancement and the enrichment in his music studies to Mary Alyce Groman, Mark Lakirovich, Yuri Mazurkevich, and his current teacher Peter Zazofsky.
