Ilana Zaks

Ilana Zaks, eleven years old, from Needham, began studying violin at the age of three and a half with her mother, Anna Korsunsky. Currently she is a student of Professor Donald Weilerstein. At the age of six, Ilana made her first appearance with the chamber orchestra.

In April of 2011, she received the First Prize at the James R. Powers Concerto Competition of the Boston Civic Orchestra and the First Prize in the Leonard Wood Award of the YAC from the Philharmonic Society of Arlington. In 2010, Ilana was a finalist of the Feinberg Youth Competition of the Brockton Symphony. Ilana is the First Prize winner of the "Young Promise" International Competition and the Bay State Contest. Ilana is an enthusiastic recitalist and a passionate chamber music player and loves to perform in different concerts. She has been a participant of the International Chamber Music Festival at the St. Marks School.
