Anna Larsen is a native of Newton and is a fifth grader at Countryside Elementary School. She has been studying piano since she was three years old, first with Sachiko Isihara at the Suzuki School of Newton and now with Hung Kuan Chen at the New England Conservatory. She was one of the first scholarship recipients from the Lang Lang Foundation. She played a collaborative piece on the Oprah show and at Carnegie Hall in the YouTube Symphony Orchestra (video), and played the collaborative Mack Wilberg Carmen Fantasy at Carnegie Hall and Segerstrom Hall (video).
Anna maintains a wide repertoire and has mastered all 24 preludes and fugues from Bach's Well Tempered Clavier, book 1. Anna also composes her own music, and has been recognized in several competitions at the national level, and completing her first fully orchestrated symphony. Anna's "second instrument" is voice and she had her debut singing the National Anthem with the Boston Militia football league.
Outside of music, Anna loves swimming, skating, reading and drawing cartoons.
